Do you run a credit check?

In many cases, yes. We use Creditsafe for credit checks. It is a light-touch check that does not affect your ability to borrow, and it does not appear on UC.

From Creditsafe's website (in Swedish):

Does the number of enquiries about you as a private individual affect your credit rating? The answer is no. Creditsafe does not lower your credit rating based on how many companies have obtained a credit report on you. Your credit assessment is based solely on the information registered in our databases on that particular day. The number of credit enquiries therefore affects neither rating, scoring nor future credit assessments.

Why do we do it?

We send tens of thousands of kronor worth of equipment to people we have never met. The credit check is part of how we manage that risk.

What happens if it does not pass?

We get in touch and the booking is cancelled. You get back everything you paid, and you are charged nothing.

It is worth knowing that a credit report can just as easily contain no information as it can contain something negative. If you have recently moved to Sweden, run your own business without paying yourself a salary, or are a student, there is often simply no registered income to assess. That does not mean anything is wrong.

Is there anything you can do about it?

Yes — write to us at support@flexfoto.se and we will look at it manually. There is often a way forward:

• Other documentation. A certificate of registration or company registration number, F-tax certificate, VAT returns, annual accounts, or a few months of bank statements. VAT returns usually say the most, because they show real turnover even when you take no salary.
• Start with a smaller rental. Once you have rented from us and it has gone well, the whole range is open to you next time.
• A deposit. If the credit check does not go through, we can instead offer a deposit agreement, where you pay a security before the equipment is sent and get it back once the equipment has returned in good condition. It is an offer — never a requirement.
• Someone else as the renter. A parent, a colleague or your company can place the booking and sign the agreement.

We would much rather find a solution than say no.
