Why does shipping cost more than in an ordinary web shop?

Short answer: two journeys instead of one, heavy and insured goods — and flat shipping prices set below our own cost.

In an ordinary web shop the parcel travels one way. With us it always travels two: out to you, and home to us again. That alone doubles the cost compared with the shipping prices you are used to.

This is what is included:

**The return shipping. **You never pay extra to send it back. You choose whether to drop the parcel at a PostNord service point or book a pickup at your door — pickup is included for everyone, whichever way you chose to receive the delivery.

**Proper packaging. **The equipment travels in a protective hard case, not in a bag. That makes the parcels heavy and bulky — and PostNord charges by weight and size.

**Insured for replacement value, both ways. **Every shipment is insured for what the equipment costs to buy new, the whole time PostNord has it — out to you and home to us again. If a 40,000 SEK lens is crushed in transit, the insurance covers it, not you.

**PostNord's best services. **We ship with strict identity checks — only the person who signed the rental agreement can collect the parcel — plus fast delivery and full flexibility for you as the recipient. In the PostNord app you can redirect it to another service point or pick a time for home delivery.

**Nordic Swan Ecolabelled and carbon-offset transport. **We use only PostNord's Nordic Swan Ecolabelled delivery methods, and carbon-offset on top of that.

Shipping is not a revenue stream

Shipping is priced in five fixed steps by how large the shipment is, and you see which one applies right in the cart. The price is the same wherever in Sweden you live — we charge nothing extra for distance. What decides the step is the shipment’s size: PostNord charges for the GREATER of the parcel’s real weight and its volumetric weight, and a hard case is light but bulky, so size usually decides rather than weight. All five steps sit below what PostNord invoices us for the same shipment: we do not charge for shipping in order to make money on shipping.

Tip: rent for longer

Shipping is the same whether you rent for three days or three weeks. The longer the rental, the smaller the share of the bill that is shipping. And however short the rental: shipping is never more than half the rental price. If the real cost comes to more than that, we cover the difference.
