Why do I pay more in total to extend a 7-day rental to a 14-day one than a 14-day rental costs?
This applies once the equipment is on its way or already with you. If we have not shipped the order yet, we recalculate the whole rental for the longer period instead — so fourteen days costs exactly what booking fourteen days from the start would have.
Once the equipment is out, the price is built to encourage renting for the longest time you might need a product, and returning it early for a partial refund instead — rather than renting for the shortest time you might need the product. We do this to get a better idea of when a product will actually come back to us from a rental, so that we can accept future bookings for it.
If a renter chooses the longest time they might need a product, we can accept a future booking with confidence. In the opposite situation, where the equipment is rented for the shortest period the renter might need it, we can end up in a position where they assume they can get an extension on a rental but we have already reserved the product or products for another renter.
